INCLUIVE SKI TOURING
INTO THE
BACKCOUNTRY
Inclusive Ski Touring is a non-profit organization focused on growing the ski touring community in New England. From introducing newcomers to the sport to creating spaces for likeminded individuals to come together, Inclusive Ski Touring is responsible for a tremendous spike in interest around touring in New England.
Their newest program takes participants on a guided tour into the White Mountains - an introduction to low angle backcountry skiing for skiers looking to get a taste of skiing off resort without venturing into avalanche terrain.
To raise awareness around this program, we tagged along on a tour to give viewers a glimpse of what it’s like to participate in this program. Going out into the backcountry for your first time can be scary. Through this production, we hope to peel back the curtain on this tremendous program, and ultimately help more skiers grow their skills in the backcountry.
Fun fact: To create this film, we skied a cumulative 30 miles and ascended a whopping 12,000' in elevation.
Meet the crew
First up, we’ve got the boy in blue, Jesse LaFountaine. Jesse came onboard for this project as a second shooter and sound designer. He’s responsible for a good chunk of footage produced for this project as well as all of the crispy swooshes, buttery vocal mix, and tasteful nature soundscapes throughout. Jesse traveled 12 miles on skis for this project, ascending over 4,000’ of elevation. All with camera gear in tow. Nice job Jesse!
Next up, we’ve got the man in black, Tom Adamowicz, founder of Norde and visionary behind the project. Tom served as the primary filmmaker on this project and spent all of the grueling hours in the editors chair to make his vision come to life. From final editing to title design Tom got it done. He traveled 18 miles on skis for this project, ascending over 6,000’ of elevation.
A special shoutout also goes out to Mercedes Mehling. Mercedes jumped in as colorist during the post production process. Her attention to detail and eye for color really brought this piece to life.
